Undated and unsigned hand written manuscript by André Breton.
These two texts were published in 1948 in Poèmes and have primitive figurines as their subject. Like most New Zealand Tiki, New Guinea Korwars are carved wooden pieces. There is some humour in the invocations to these primitive gods, and the reader will note some discreet barbs in the poem ‘Korwar’ directed against the morality of action developed by the existentialists.
