Description

Typewritten carbon copies of André Breton’s notes concerning the 1947 exhibition.

Typewritten plan of the room of superstition designed by Frederick Kiesler.

Typescript of the 12 altars, exactly copying Breton's handwritten texts:
quotations, creators of the altars, the offerings, the food, the correspondence and the astral signs (13 pages in-4°). [Sale catalog, 2003]

A fair copy of the composition of two of the rooms in the exhibition, including the descriptive cards for all the altars:

- The room of superstitions detailing the scenography entrusted to Frederick Kiesler and including works by Donati, Duchamp, Ernst, Hare, Matta, Miró, Martin-Sthali, Sage and Tanguy.

- The alcove room contains twelve altars numbered from 1 to 12, each corresponding to a sign of the zodiac, with a plan and typical elements (made by an artist, containing one work of art, an excerpt of a text, offerings and food). [Bibliothèque Kandinsky]

The visuals for this entry can be viewed on the Bibliothèque Kandinsky website. [André Breton website, 2016]
