Manuscript by Jacques-André Boiffard intended for The Surrealist Revolution, undated.

The author of these pages, Jacques-André Boiffard, was Man Ray's assistant, to which Breton had entrusted the job of taking the photographs that would illustrate Nadja. These pages written by Boiffard were intended for The Surrealist Revolution, but were never published. We know that Breton was disappointed by the images in this text, and it seems he was not convinced by Boiffard’s overly conventional way of writing, in which poetic images were integrated into a prose seen as limited by the surrealists.

- 4 pages in-4°, handwritten manuscript signed by Jacques-André Boiffard: “As for me, night always appeared to me in the form of a tall woman wearing a blue blouse with white polka dots. Her route is always the same: in the evening she wanders along the outer boulevards till she embarks towards her mid-self, to Oceania, where Tahitian girls welcome her around 5:22 a.m. in the half-open doorway of their sleepy thighs.”
