Autograph manuscripts signed and dated 5-10 October 1962.

3 folio pages in-4°, manuscript in ink, titled, dated and signed by André Breton with erasures and corrections of the text of his preface to Karel Kupka's book on Australian aborigines.

“Our good fortune is that things are quite different with Karel Kupka, who is driven by passionate attraction and feels no need to hide it. Australia, moreover, is poetically magnetised. [...] For a long time now, children's curiosity has revelled in the uniqueness of its mammalian fauna - marsupials and monotremes - which, above all else, lends credence to the idea or illusion of a lost world. Knowing that the northern part of the region is home to fairly homogeneous human groups whose clocks are several millennia behind our own is an added incentive to take a closer look.” [Auction Catalogue, 2003]
