André Breton's dossier for Marcel Duchamp for the special issue of Flair (1953).
In 1952 a project for an almanac of Surrealism was proposed, to be published by the American magazine Flairunder Marcel Duchamp’s supervision. At the end of that year, André Breton sent a few letters requesting permission to reproduce paintings, and in the spring of 1953 he drew up general instructions, addressed in particular to Duchamp. Despite meticulous and inventive preparation, the almanac was never published, though one of the notebooks was printed and bound in Chinese style. However, some of the ideas for it were re-used in organising the Exposition internationale du surréalisme at the Daniel Cordier gallery, from 15 December 1959 to 15 February 1960.
