Description
Manuscript by André Breton, undated, spring 1959.
Oskar Panizza, the scandalous author of The Love Council (Le Concile d'amour), is here the subject of a brief note by André Breton, with two intentions: to showcase the writer in the fifth and final issue of Le Surréalisme, même, and for inclusion in the Lexique succinct de l'érotisme that would accompany the International Surrealist Exhibition held at the galerie Daniel Cordier in December 1959. [Atelier André Breton website, 2005]
Two versions of the text are presented here:
One quarter page, first draft handwritten bibliographic text by André Breton devoted to Oskar Panizza.
The second draft of the same text (quarter page). [Auction catalogue, 2003]
Translated by Krzysztof Fijalkowski
