Description
Typescript of an interview given by Breton to the Canadian radio on January 13, 1953.
Preceded by a handwritten fragment (included at the end of the typed text) and a note signed by G.R. clearly explaining the conditions of its broadcast, this interview given by Breton to Canadian radio and television in 1953 focuses on Arcane 17, which was written in Canada, and on certain experiences precisely related to Breton's stay in that country. The whole 'conversation' is intended for listeners who are not very familiar with either Surrealism or the exact situation of the French intellectual world. [Atelier André Breton website, 2005]
Typescript and autograph manuscript, undated (1952).
- 5 pages in-4° typescript titled 'Où en est le surréalisme' [The Status of Surrealism], of which the last 16 lines reproduce the text of the attached manuscript by Breton (1/4 page in-4°). A typed note specifies that this is a text broadcast on Radio-Canada:
"I have watched the birds a lot on Bonaventure Island, which is off the coast of Percé; I have never listened to them so much, and heard them so well, as in the Canadian forest."
('Où en est le surréalisme?', Alentours II, Œuvres complètes, volume III, last paragraph, page 1095.)
- 1/4 page in-4°, autograph manuscript of an incomplete text relating to Bonaventure Island. [Auction Catalogue, 2003]
