Description

A fantastic calendar project probably dating from 1947 or 1948.

1947, 1948? This fantastic calendar project probably dates from the years following Breton's return to France, Cause having been founded in 1947. Handwritten by Breton and Péret, this kind of almanac establishes a Holy Bedlam Day, a Holy Hyphen Day, a Holy Voluptuary Day, while honouring some of those who allowed the movement to survive before and after the war, such as Albert Skira, the publisher of Minotaure. A Festival of Crumbs appears as the highlight of this surrealist year...

Handwritten texts.

Page 2: handwritten in blue ink by Benjamin Péret and André Breton composed of a dozen weekly papers according to the same principle: ‘M. Holy Prie-Dieu Day, T. Holy Buttocks Day, W. Holy Booze Day, T. Holy Crécœur Day, F. Holy Tramp Day, S. Holy Milt Day, S. Sacrament Factory Day.’
